The Gunnersbury Park Garden Estate Residents Association also supports community events that bring residents together in a welcoming and friendly setting. Activities such as potluck gatherings, barbecues, seasonal get-togethers and informal neighbourhood events give people a chance to meet, talk, share food and build connections with those living nearby.
GPGE holds a variety of community events and supports residents who wish to organise their own, including potluck gatherings, centenary celebrations, dog shows and other activities that bring neighbours together and strengthen community life.
These events have an important social purpose. They help create a stronger sense of belonging, especially for residents who may feel isolated, new to the area or less connected to their neighbours. By offering relaxed opportunities to spend time together, GPGE helps encourage acceptance, kindness and lasting friendships across the estate.
Community events also help people look out for one another. When neighbours know each other, they are better able to share information, offer support and notice when someone may need help. This strengthens community resilience and helps create a safer, warmer and more caring local environment.
GPGE’s aim is to foster a community where people of different ages, backgrounds and circumstances feel included and valued. Our events are about much more than socialising. They help reduce loneliness, encourage neighbourly support and build the trust that allows a community to thrive.
We are grateful to the residents who contribute food, time, ideas and energy to these gatherings. Their participation helps turn a collection of streets into a genuine community, rooted in friendship, mutual respect and care for one another.
