The Gunnersbury Park Garden Estate Residents Association has always believed that protecting our local environment starts with practical action. One of the simplest, most visible ways we support the area is through community litter picks, organised with the help of local volunteers who give their time to keep our streets, green spaces and public areas cleaner and safer for everyone.
These litter picks are small acts of care with a real community impact. Volunteers help remove discarded rubbish, collect items that could harm wildlife, and improve the look and feel of the neighbourhood for residents, visitors, children, dog walkers and park users. Every bag collected helps protect the character of the estate and shows that local people are willing to step up for the place they live in.
The work is also about community spirit. Litter picks bring neighbours together, encourage people to take pride in their surroundings and create a practical way for residents to contribute, even if they only have an hour to spare. They are welcoming, low-pressure activities where people can meet, help out and make an immediate difference.
GPGE’s volunteer activity reflects its wider purpose: supporting residents, protecting local green spaces, encouraging civic responsibility and helping preserve the distinctive character of the Gunnersbury Park Garden Estate. Our work is rooted in care for the neighbourhood and a belief that public spaces should be looked after for the benefit of the whole community.
We are grateful to every volunteer who has taken part so far. Their time, effort and goodwill make a visible difference, and we hope to continue building on this work with more community-led environmental activities in the future.
